"This is the biggest thing I have ever won," said Asing, who lives in Ewa. "I knew I had to get good waves because every heat could have been my last. Coming to Ecuador has been an incredible experience."

Two other Hawaii surfers placed. Dylan Goodale finished fourth in the under 18 division, and Alessa Quizon was fourth in under 18 girls.
